We don't teach people about finances, or financial advice, enough. I understand some people are very disappointed by today's decision, but really struggle to see this as the government's fault.

Years after the maladministration covered in the Ombudsman's report was addressed, and two years after WASPI and others started complaining, some people are still saying they weren't aware. Really? I wish journalists would challenge rather than lap up what they are told.

Imagine being an exhausted mother in pain after labor or the father just surviving in the chair on no sleep and a giant pop tart mascot walks in. Fever dream.

I legitimately have no interest in the actual football being played in the Pop-Tart Bowl. I’m doing this to watch sentient nihilistic toaster pastries to run around for three hours. One of the greatest marketing stunts ever.

The final CMI age-standardised mortality analysis based on death registrations in E&W shows that 2024 was, by a whisker, the lowest ever year, slightly beating the last pre-pandemic year of 2019 (which itself was exceptionally low). More context follows:- 1/

Two points to note - firstly 2019 was exceptionally low compared with the previous years, so even without COVID, it would have taken a few years for the underlying trend line to match that year's figure... 5/

Indeed such figures are given in the CRUK report: the rate at which people were dying from cancer in 2023 is 252 per 100,000 people, a fall of around 23% from where it was in 1973 at 328 per 100,000 people. news.cancerresearchuk.org/2025/06/03/can… 16/18
