In 1998 Gerard Gaskin shot a series of ballroom portraits for Vibe magazine. The spread reportedly was killed because the new editor-in-chief didn't want people thinking Vibe was a gay mag. Gaskin, to my knowledge, has been shooting balls longer than any other Black photographer
