This isn’t new. The ACC, Big 8, PAC 8 used to be 8 teams each. Pitt, BC, Syracuse, UofL and Miami were Big East. NCAA hypocrisy and antitrust violations aren’t new. This has always been about money. The only cooperation among market competitors is to collude to limit athletes.
