This week's Good Cause Eviction rally sent a powerful message that we need this legislation included in the final budget. It is important that we continue to take actions to stabilize our communities, protect tenant rights, and prevent homelessness.

This is an incredible victory! Our members, Ald. Michele Hirsch she/her/hers and Steve Noble, helped lead the way to win this unprecedented rent reduction for thousands of working-class tenants. This proves that in the absence of state action, cities in New York have real power to help renters.

This is BIG.

Today the court ruled in favor of Kingston tenants, upholding a historic 15% rent reduction, after 5 years(!!!) of organizing by Citizen Action members💪

A win for tenants everywhere and a huge step in the right direction for housing justice across New York State.

The New York Supreme Court Appellate Division, Third Department has ruled to uphold the Housing Emergency and overturned the lower court’s ruling that the Kingston Rent Guidelines Board was unlawful. The #ETPA and 15% rent rollback are lawful! It’s a good day for #KingstonNY

The budget must include an 8.5% COLA for our state’s human services & mental health workforce, as well as my legislation to index future adjustments to inflation so that we don’t need to renegotiate this every year.
