Jayda Pryce Claire Fox Spot on! Another much pedalled myth around home educators not socialising. It shows lack of understanding of home education since play & community are at the heart of our approach. And yes, they get to play, learn, grow with all ages not just one age bracket/group day in day out

This thread is just brilliant. As a #HomeEducator the question that irritates me the most is the classic..."but what about socialisation?"

#StopTheSchoolsBill This bill needs to be thrown out. It's all badly written and parts of it are based on stereotyping and prejudice rather than evidence, particularly in relation to #HomeEducation. It will damage and criminalise families and hand sweeping powers to the state.

😭 the ecological vandalism in #Plymouth & #Wellingborough impacts us all. We cannot treat our planet like it is there for our convenience or for our fashion & design choices. In the end, this concept of "progress" will literally be the death of us all. Plymouth City Council North Northamptonshire Council

James Fletcher Agreed. Elective home education is exactly that - parents taking responsibility for their own children. Responsible parents deserve respect from the State, not stigma. No to state expansion into the home. nickfletcher.org.uk/node/1368 #home-ed-debate

Will we see a #fairdebate James Fletcher Those pushing the agenda for a CNIS register continue to paint a picture of #homeeducating parents as #badparents yet we are #responsible parents making the #bestchoices for our children

MiaKayRuby (@miakayruby) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Agreed. The 'evidence' presented is always a result of conflating other issues with #homeeducation. The reports are actually about school absence, attendance issues, failure to support SEN, off-rolling and illegal schools. These are all school issues. #FairHearing4HomeEd

#HomeEducation can be life changing for young people and their families. In some cases it can be life saving. #FairHearing4HomeEd #petitionsdebate

I so agree with you! James Fletcher #HomeEducation The DfE needs to take a long hard look at their offering. They've forgotten who they are meant to serve, and what century and decade we live in. If anyone is to be scrutinised, start there! #PetitionsDebate

Putting law-abiding minority groups on a register is highly controversial, and there are data from various 'consultations' to back this. The current laws, if followed, work well. Plus there are huge - and genuine - data privacy concerns. Are you reflecting this in your coverage?

MiaKayRuby (@miakayruby) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You see this so often: the legislation exists to address something but the relevant services fail to act. Government: "we're very worried about illegal schools" Ofsted (who have power in this area) "............" Government: "I know lets have a register of children not in school"

FreeBird (@uncageddove) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Though, you did touch on something important: fining and jailing parents isn't going to make their children attend #school, if school is not suiting those children. We need to overhaul #attendance law and end these incentives, not threaten #HomeEducating families as well.

On Tuesday 16th May there will be a private member’s bill introduced, seeking to legislate the registration of children educated outside of school. This bill would badly impact the home educating communities and how they operate. Find out more here scraptheschoolsbill.co.uk

Are you considering home education for the new school year? Remember school is not compulsory. Home education isn’t school at home, it can be anything you want and the child needs it to be. #homeeduk #learnathome
