Great to see the new bollards installed on Miah Close, by Camberwell New Road, as traders prepare to tackle anti-social parking by those unconnected to the area. Well, I say new, but they are recycled. All part of #MiahClose principles on sustainability: #ReduceReuseRecycle

What happens when you plan a car-free development without preventing new residents from actually owning a car, in the lease? Simple. They park in footways and access areas by open space such as Kennington Common and Bolton Crescent, SE5.

Excellent initiative. This feeds into the proposal by locals on Camberwell New Road to create a new Green Link through they Wyndham Road - Redcar Street, for a joined up #healthy #safe #green walking route to school coming from Camberwell New Road. Dora Dixon-Fyle MBE @kieronjwilliams

SE5 Forum Camberwell Southwark Nature Action Volunteers A good discussion which skilfully managed to avoid the LTN controversy, so we can take what we can on walking idea without getting trapped in that debate. Good info from Camberwell Society on green development scoring. Let’s hope West Camberwell border finally gets some funding.

Wanted: partners to set-up an open-air soup kitchen on Miah Close, with a vegetarian focus. 🥕🥬🥔 We need a 2-sink set-up to apply for the Council to certify compliance. The aim is to provide soup on a weekly basis as a community & food-need event. DM/follow/@ for details!🍜

@kieronjwilliams Why not take advantage of the new #CWIS funding from Active Travel England to install a new walking & cycling route through Wyndham Redcar development? Free money for Southwark, if you want it. The alternative is the current roadbuilding proposal below.

miahclose What? This is shocking news. Where can I find more information about these plans and where do I object? This insane rat run is an absolute hazard, this whole part of Camberwell is a total nightmare for cyclists and pedestrians, and so much traffic for such small roads!

Good to see the traders looking after Miah Close. This is a good pattern of maintenance, & works perfectly for the pedestrian priority on Miah Close, which is under threat from the current planning application. The nightmare of a smooth tarmac public road is on the horizon.

Southwark finally gets around to enforcing against cars abandoned in Miah Close, using its powers as a PLA to do this on any open land (no matter the owner). Local shopkeepers were unfairly blamed for this as part of the planning process which argued for a new public road.
