A big deal! Too often NDAs and non-disparagement agreements prevent survivors from coming forward. It's time to ban them in NY. My bill A2555A with Andrew Gounardes would allow us to do so and protect victims Lift Our Voices Sexual Harassment Working Group

Grateful US Attorney SDNY continues to take sexual abuse by doctors seriously. I hope this conviction gives Paduch’s victims some relief. Multiple healthcare systems knowingly protected him and must also be held accountable. Predators operate w/in systems and the systems need reform.

Anthony DiPietro The DiPietro Law Firm, who reps 225+ Paduch patients ages 12-60, said it’s going to take time for his clients to process the news. “We’re grateful that he’ll never be able to do this to a single patient ever again…They’ve been carrying this burden…”nytimes.com/2024/05/08/nyr…

NEW: Weinstein survivors are rallying around a bill that could change the course of his New York retrial thedailybeast.com/new-witness-le…

Marissa Hoechstetter (@mhoechstetter) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Nearly fainted to see The New York Times run an opinion piece by Cy Vance about “What it takes to keep men like Weinstein behind bars.” What a fucking insult to survivors everywhere. Vance hasn’t given up on trying to rewrite his legacy. I won’t give up on telling the truth either.

Alexis Grenell (@agrenell) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Vance CHOSE not to prosecute major serial abusers like Weinstein and Hadden, he opposed the Rape is Rape bill as head of the DA’s association (now law) and he declined to go after Trump currently on trial. It's absolutely absurd to see him opining in the Times.

🎯 I want to say something about how - only a man would write a piece like Vance did and fail to mention that we’re only here bc he himself didn’t prosecute Weinstein in the first place - but I won’t.

Very proud to pass my bill requiring the state board of medicine to adopt a Zero Tolerance Policy for sexual misconduct & that patients be made aware of the protections afforded to them during any medical exam.

I want to thank my Legislative Analyst, Michelle Castellanos-Ojeda, who has worked diligently with advocates and survivors to draft and move this bill. I urge the Assembly to pass it to increase accountability for physicians who violate a patient’s trust

Appreciate this Jonah Bromwich “Less than 24 hrs after…Mr. Bragg returned to one of his routine trial check-ins, sitting, as he often does, in a mostly empty courtroom and listening to a police officer testify against a man accused of rape and robbery.” nytimes.com/2024/05/31/nyr…

Today we are standing with the 250+ individuals who courageously filed child sexual abuse lawsuits through the Gender Motivated Violence Protection Act against NYC's juvenile detention centers.

Statutes of limitations fail survivors. We need laws and policies that allow survivors of sexual violence and abuse to hold accountable the people who caused them harm and the institutions that allowed that abuse to happen, in the timeframe that feels right to them.

Let me summarize for you: #AdultSurvivorsAct opens window for victims to get justice. Lawyer drops clients bc so many allegations against them. Kirshner picks up said clients bc, well, that’s her specialty. nypost.com/2024/06/17/us-…

Big news out of Utah! I’m so happy for these women that the slow crawl towards justice is moving a step forward for them. Obgyn accused of abuse by more than 100 women finally faces criminal charges…. sltrib.com/news/2024/06/2…

“Columbia still has significant work to do to address their role in Hadden coverup and answer for the individual, leadership, and systemic failures responsible for enabling the most prolific sexual predator in U.S. history.”

✨ 🦋 Eva Santos Veloz 🦋 (@evasantosveloz) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is not the end. We will continue to hold Columbia accountable for years of cover-up and protecting Hadden’s abuse. As survivors, we stand united in our fight for full institutional accountability. We are stronger than ever they didn’t silence us, and never will.
