“My grandfather used to say that once in your life you need a doctor, a lawyer, a policeman and a preacher, but every day, three times a day, you need a farmer.” – Brenda Schoepp

Looked at a lot of wheat over the past week and not seeing any head damage from the frost event. Lot of questions about this due to damage seen in ‘07 but that event was much colder and occurred over multiple nights...wheat was at similar stage though...

Observing a fair amount of scab in our wheat. Fields that were treated at flowering also have some scab but much less than non-treated from what I looked at this morning. Also appears that fields sprayed on the very early side of the treatment window have the least scab.

When using a hoop to assess soybean pops you can either get a fancy chart with all kinds of multipliers for different sized hoops or just cut yours down to 28” so you can use 10K. It also makes your 5 yr old wonder why dad is cutting up a perfectly good hula hoop😃

Popillia japonica: feeds on over 300 plant species. Corn is most vulnerable during pollination. If silks are getting clipped to 1/2”, pollination is less than half done and 3 beetles per ear are present, spray. Scouting prior to pollination is critical.

I was curious how much it rained today but I don’t have a gauge out...fortunately the sunroof was left open on the car last night so I was able to measure the water in the cupholders. We had about an inch. 😃
