1. The seal of the Patriarchate of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.  Wreaths, wheat & grapes, are the Eucharist (Holy Communion). The heavenly crowns granted to the martyrs.  The two angels holding the Patriarchal Staff of Moses በትረ ሙሴ the snakes under a cross. #ETOC

The wreaths are tied together by a bow symbolizing the girdle of the Holy Virgin who left it to the Apostles as she was Assumpted to Heaven to symbolize humanity’s hope for eternal life.  This is obtained through Holy Communion which is symbolized by the wreaths it ties together.

Usually the background of this seal is white to symbolize that the Christian era is an era of peace, happiness and salvation.  It is replaced now with black, to mark the mourning; Holy Synod’s decree of mourning for the three day Fast of Nineveh which starts on Monday.
