I fear this part of the Darzi report already risks getting lost - but it is absolutely key. If we want to avoid another lost decade for the NHS, we have to invest in the wider public sector and all the other things that make up the wider determinants of health.

I suspect we will see another reform of the NHS without reform of its view of the workforce-as a drain on finances instead of a safety critical asset

We have entered a new era of medicine to actually medically treat those with obesity. If only the stigma and lack of understanding regarding obesity science didn’t get in the way all of the time and prevent people from accessing treatments.

We are good at treating some of the consequences of the damage that the visceral fat tissue does, the cardiovascular issues, the type 2 diabetes. But god forbid we should offer treatments that might stop people getting those in the first place 🙄
