Found washed up after winter storms, the giraffe in this montage is thought to be from a 1971 packet of Kellogg's Coco Krispies. Nearly 50 years old. They were also given away with packets of Puffa Puffa rice. #WorldGiraffeDay #anthropocene #plasticheritage #plasticarchaeology

Amazing how a chance find can transport you back 50 years or so. This is part of a 'Stereoscope Lestrade Simplex viewer' from the 60s that has been lying on the seabed for decades. I had a similar one as a child. The last image shows one currently on Ebay #contemporaryarchaeology

We pick up so many lost, forgotten, broken and discarded sand toys from beaches yet the local supermarket is selling them off for 75p a bag.

Could this sheet of rubber that washed up yesterday be over 100 years old? It matches some we found a few years ago that had come from a ship thought to have been torpedoed in 1917. #shipwreck
