Cold upwelling events have increased between 1981 and 2022, killing marine life including sharks and rays.

Tagged bull sharks changed their behaviour to avoid sudden temperature drops by swimming closer to the surface, and sheltering in bays.

On a recent dive near the Gipuzkoa port of Getaria, on Spain's northern coast, two photographers from the Real Sociedad Underwater team encountered dozens of discarded catsharks on the seabed.

The fishing industry has not been honestly reporting its impact on non-target species (imagine!)
Although a legal obligation, there are no reports of fishing boats in Irish waters catching dolphins, despite hundreds washing up dead on our coasts every winter.

As the drone tracked the humpbacks, the orca executed an entirely new tactic, not seen before. The orca kidnapped the calf at speed and carried it using the wake behind their fins.

It didn't end well for the Humpback calf.

And it was a very happy Dolphin Day for Stuart Harwood who encountered 3 Bottlenose Dolphins just off Shoreham Beach today, April 14th. The dolphins stayed with him for 5 minutes.

Thanks to Brighton Boating for sending in this sighting of 4 Bottlenose filmed on Saturday, April 13th on a sailing cruise from Marina.

The dolphins were sighted just a few miles outside the marina, and stayed with the boat for some time.
