If the minister wants talks, she should have perhaps answered our last email of 2nd October seeking them.... The SSBA has had no contact of any kind from Scottish Government since July.

Scotland's legal aid system is in crisis. Four out of five lawyers working in civil legal aid will no longer take on protective order cases for victims of domestic abuse. This ultimately means that domestic abuse victims have less access to justice. This is unacceptable.

Excellent interview with Ian Moir who is right to call for the re-introduction of the trainee fund. One of the best policies ScotGov Justice have introduced in my time. It increased capacity and sustainability which makes it all the more bizarre that they haven’t repeated it.

Brilliantly insightful thread on the trainee fund. As Rob points out, £500k would support 20 new trainees. A drop in the ocean compared to what ScotGov Justice spends on other justice partners. Threats to civil liberties only ever cost a few pounds at a time.
