Whilst I understand what the Scottish Government is trying to do with this bill, vital questions remain - from juryless trials, to unsubstantiated changes to jury majorities. Sweeping reforms are being rushed through without evidence or scrutiny.

The findings of the Cass Review must be implemented in Scotland.

This is important for staff, the young people with gender dysphoria & their families.

The SNP Gov’t must be transparent & give a statement about implementation of the Cass review & the use of puberty blockers.

Today we debated the recently implemented and controversial Hate Crime Act. The poor implementation and confusion around the Act mean that the public are already losing confidence in the legislation, which is why I used the debate to call for post legislative scrutiny of the Act.

We need the Scottish Government to explain their plans following the #CassReview . Everyone wants clarity on this matter regardless of their views.

No wonder Carol Mochan MSP is shaking her head. The Scottish Government knew this report was coming and the general direction it was taking. I have just returned from Ireland and they are also incorporating Cass review in to their own consultation. Children’s lives are at stake.
