We don’t hear enough from psychiatrists in the assisted dying / suicide debate imo. Good piece by Prof Allan House carefully deconstructing Kim Leadbeater’s Bill. Makes several very important points. betterwaycampaign.co.uk/psychiatrist-w…

When discussing serious health issues with patients, it’s crucial to ask permission each time a serious topic is broached… people may have specific needs, timing, or preferences they’d like to voice before you “go there.”

To support prescribing decisions for older people with moderate to severe frailty, we recently published our Pragmatic Prescribing guidance. Endorsed by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, the Royal College of General Practitioners, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the Royal College of Physicians, this document was an instant hit. buff.ly/n33nYtM

More than 1 in 3 older inpatients in this study were dehydrated. Dehydrated patients: 13% higher odds of falling (OR 1.13, P=.002). ↳ Dehydration is cheap to fix - but easy to miss. 💧💧💧💧💧💧💧💧 ⇉ Do you check fluid status on every ward round?
