Callum Close It’s imperative that the NGC stays open. Not only is the building an icon of the Sunderland skyline, it is also purpose built to honour 1350 years of glassmaking in St Peter’s on the Wear. Built with public money after the last shipyard closed.

Callum Close And all of the mayoral candidates should be supporting the retention and investment in the National Glass Centre building and all. This is an easy cross party symbol of Northern ingenuity. #savethenationalglasscentre
