We need new ways of reducing waste. A deposit refund scheme for bottles & cans would be a good start. We can require other packaging to be biodegradable & introduce municipal bins for such compostable material. We can then end single use & non recyclable plastics. #wastereduction

Journalists’ endless tweets of #buyapaper or imploring people to take out a sub must be mind-numbingly repetitive and boring for everyone who has to read them but this in a nutshell is why it’d be great for all concerned if people would consider it. thejournal.ie/four-nurses-pa…

If we can only have 6 people in our houses, how can we have 30 children in a classroom? It’s a reasonable question. But it’s not a contradiction; in fact, these measures are connected and coherent. The following explanation is a simplification, but illustrates the principle. 1/8

#OnThisDay in 1974 Leeds sacked Brian Clough, so he typically went on TV to talk about it. Pringle jumper. Matching tie and shirt. You love to see it.

This weekend, please avoid meeting people outside your household. Our social bubble consists of everybody our entire bubble is in contact with. If you have 1 person in your bubble, but that person has 10 people in theirs, you've now got 11 people in your bubble #COVID19 #holdfirm

While the large number of people using the Coastal Mobility Route in Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council is significant, the wide diversity of the users is of much more importance. This can be seen from high proportion of young, old, families & less confident regularly using the route. #SafeMobility #dlrcc

Further consultation is a cop out. We can have much more info in 6 mths if we began the live trial now! We must get more serious about this, we need a solid, safe and direct cycling network. The alternative is an unusable network of local compromises and further car clogged roads

Excuse the non weather post but some of the discussion around data centers in Ireland is really poorly informed. I’ve quickly tried to make a few points below:

And they’re away. The annual Art O’Neill Challenge - recreating the 1592 escape - leaves Dublin Castle, facing a 60km trek over the Wicklow Mountains into the safety of Glenmalure Valley. The leaders should arrive at about 6am, if the English and the weather don’t kill them.
