I hope I'm wrong too, but GO Transit needs to figure out how expand ridership in this new world of wfh. GO must better serve the City of Toronto, the largest pop. base in the region. This is why 2WAD, fare & srvc integration w the #ttc, & more stations in City of Toronto π¨π¦ matters.
If GO Transit's peak commuter ridership does not recover, this calls into qstn the need for projects like the rail yard in the Don dontmesswiththedon. The trend of reduced peak ridership, and growing off-peak ridership share began even b4 COVID & was happening all over the world.
VIA Rail Canada Canadian National CPKC Metrolinx Now that we have some sort of procurement information, HFR is nothing else than a disguised PPP. A poor attempt at one. VIA has demonstrated they CAN deliver on projects, if given the resources. Letting the private sector dictate, operate and design the project is just ridiculous
#TurningRed is a film about adorable animals and generational pain; itβs the best thing Pixar has released in years, reviews Alison Willmore / alisonwillmore.bsky.social vult.re/3i1x2OE
Kristyn Wong-Tam π¨π¦ Also, does anyone care yet that per-km GTA subway-building prices have pretty well doubled since Metrolinx+Infrastructure Ontario were brought in to wrestle costs back down after the TTC's York-Vaughan extension went 52% over budget? Ben Spurr Marco Chown Oved SSE is 2X with half as many stns.
Taking transit from #coxwellstation TTC Customer Service to University of Guelph. GO Transit bus ride was smooth, tho the long walk between Kipling Station #ttc and the new bus terminal made me miss my bus. I had to wait 1h for the next one. Also signage at the new terminal is very confusing!
Christopher R Terry Matthew Canaran A sad time. With no plan in place to protect and restore the wetland ecosystem.
When a government organization Metrolinx goes rogue. #wetland #nature #designfail #oaks lost #biodiversity lost. Is there an imaginary restoration plan being created with the imaginary community engagement? @smalls_creek_ravine Matthew Canaran Lost Rivers Nina-Marie Lister IUCN
youtu.be/pQk14sjKW_s A chilling view of the Small's Creek Ravine post-clearcut. Thanks to Alli Neuhauser of Bombus Haus, Matthew Canaran and Chris Terry for all the video work! Time for our seat at the table GO Expansion. The wetland can't wait. Brad Bradford TREES TO PLEASE Toronto and Region Conservation Authority
GO Expansion Save Small's Creek Metrolinx Sorry - It was entirely possible to mitigate this level of destruction. Missing: the WILL and a champion @metrolinx with vision, tenacity, determination, integrated design, collaboration with the right experts at the table. This is not rocket science. No moving parts @smallscreek
GO Expansion Save Small's Creek Metrolinx Seriously. You expect me to believe this? I saw your engineering review. It was an exercise focused on justifying your solution, and not a genuine investigation focused on finding new solutions. In addition, your engineering review report only came out a week ahead of clearcut.
Reece Martin Matthew Canaran Metrolinx Yes, OL is assuming 100m x 3.0m, while Expo Line is regarded 68m x 2.65m (though Skytrain bought new trains, but still not the Ontario Line size),
OK, so Reece Martin Stephen Wickens πΊπ¦ π¨π¦ Michael Mielke Steve Munro, yeah it looks like Metrolinx is only planning for a capacity of 20,400ppl for the Ontario Line opening day (80m trains, 34tph). Anything more will come later, and will require an additional investment.
Matthew Canaran MacLean of Duart Save Small's Creek Metrolinx Birgit Siber @beyrima Mitch Robertson @alisatweetsmore As with me! I learned about their efforts & the Mx project through Brad Bradfordβs Instagram post. The more I learned, the more I became very concerned as an educator, professional, community member, #nature advocate, & mother who visited the wetland w/ 3 kids over 2 decades!
