Countries are losing $480 billion in tax a year to global tax abuse. 🤯 Our tax expert Arnold Merkies raises a crucial point at the UN General Assembly: tax-related illicit financial flows must be a central objective for a #UNTaxConvention if it wants to achieve global #TaxJustice.

Yesterday, some EU countries intervened in the #UNTaxConvention negotiations to argue against 'duplication' of OECD work. But the UN convention is a massive opportunity for the EU and its people, and EU policymakers should seize the chance. My piece: socialeurope.eu/developing-tax…

Check out our guide to counter five fallacies rich OECD countries may use to derail UN tax negotiations, focusing on maintaining agenda-setting power and securing an inclusive, effective international tax cooperation framework. Sergio Chaparro bit.ly/3YwwyGU

We can raise the public money we need for climate finance by following the example of Spain's recent #WealthTax on the richest 0.5% and ending the special tax treatment afforded to superrich. theguardian.com/news/article/2…

It's impossible to earn a billion dollars. Here's why, and why we need #WealthTaxes on the superrich to protect the earner way of life. #TaxJusticeMinute

So how does one tax the superrich exactly? 🤔 We've taken a page & some pictures out of wikiHow's book for our guide on how govt's can do just this. Govt's can raise $2 TRILLION a year by following the example of Spain’s wealth tax on the richest 0.5%. taxjustice.net/2024/08/19/wik…

Good on DW News to point out that 74% of polled millionaires want higher #WealthTax. More data busting "the rich will move" myth. But this tax is also supported by voters, unlike suggested in the segment: 67% support in US; 68% across 17 G20 countries. Earth4All Patriotic Millionaires

The extreme wealth of the superrich is making our economies insecure. What does this mean exactly, how does it impact you and what can we do about it? Here’s a visual guide explaining all. 🧵 #WealthTax

We used to think smoking was good for us, until evidence proved it was killing us. We thought letting the superrich collect extreme wealth would be good for us, but we now know it's killing us too - along with our economies and planet. It's time for a #WealthTax on extreme wealth
