#Vanuatu is in recovery after being hit by a 7.3 magnitude earthquake Tuesday, that damaged buildings, crushed vehicles and caused network outages. Death toll has reached 14. NZ and Aus Govts have deployed assistance to support recovery efforts. (PC- RNZ)

Boarded Fiji Airways✈️ FJ 263 bound for Port Vila and we were just 20 minutes to land at Bauerfield International Airport when the plane made a sudden U turn return to Nadi and the captain announced that they've lost all communications with the Aviation on the ground!!!!

Following the magnitude 7.3 earthquake in Vanuatu, the European Satellite Service Copernicus EMS has been activated for rapid damage assessment on critical infrastructure. The production of grading maps is underway, which will be made available here: rapidmapping.emergency.copernicus.eu/EMSR782/report…

🇦🇺 is supporting the Govt of Vanuatu’s hard work to safely resume commercial flights in and out of Port Vila as soon as possible. We are working with Airports Vanuatu to urgently restore connectivity for border services and to provide engineering assessments to confirm safety.
