Secretary Mayorkas calls Vice President Kamala Harris “a driving force” in her role of monitoring immigration and border security. He says her “primary role” has been addressing the root causes of migration patterns.

Asked about Texas challenging federal precedent over border control, Sec. Mayorkas specifically calls Greg Abbott’s migrant busing “unconscionable from every perspective.” He questions the purpose of the initiatives aside from “to wreak havoc.”

Secretary Mayorkas, addressing Senate Bill 4, which would give Texas authority to arrest individuals based on their immigration status, raises concerns of racial profiling. “How exactly is that going to be carried out? Hopefully we don’t reach that question.”
