Grade 1s are using their #GrowthMindset to practice the skill of drawing. It’s not always easy but we are taking the first step towards learning which is practicing!

Grade 2s earned time in the Falcons Nest today! It also happened to be one of our friend’s last days here at Fatima, so we worked together to make her a goodbye card!

Grade 1s have been enjoying the listening centre during morning free choice. It is a great chance to build French vocabulary and hear a variety of authentic accents! 🎧

A beautiful day to take our science outside! On a nature walk we used our 5 senses and identified what we can voir, écouter, sentir, toucher et goûter!

Returning to the classroom after lunch recess can be a difficult transition. Grade 2s spend 15 mindful minutes each day at this time to help self-regulate and prepare for more learning. Students choose colouring, play dough, reading, drawing, etc.

Grade 1s worked in teams to rotate through the 5 senses sharing their ideas. Look at all of the things we like/dislike when using our senses!

Sometimes a change in location is all you need. This morning I moved our magnet letter literacy prompt to the front whiteboard and the excitement began all over again! Check out these students practicing the words of the week.

Grade 1s are looking for signs of winter on our nature walk today!

A few Grade 1s have shown an interest in building forts, so we inquired about structures as we played today during outdoor science!

Collaboration, sight word recognition, and sentence structure are all tied into this Christmas mixed-up sentences activity! This was todays literacy prompt for our morning #softstart! 🎅🏼

We didn’t have an advent wreath in our classroom, so we worked together in partners to trace our hands and make our very own advent wreath. This is such a special addition to our prayer table!

Grade 1s and 2s both loved the Christmas “write the room” activity to introduce Christmas vocabulary. Keeping busy bodies busy and learning as Christmas gets closer and closer!

Today Grade 1s practiced following instructions by reading “Comment décorer un sapin de Noël” and following the steps as we decorated our class tree! 🎄

Grade 1s were so excited for our Christmas turkey lunch day… and for SANTA!!! 🎅🏼

As we learn about energy in our lives, we explored static electricity!

The rain and wind came at a perfect time for us to explore wind energy! We created our own boat designs and observed how the wind energy moved the boats.

This morning a student spotted a cardinal out of our window! We took the time to watch as the female bird washed herself in the puddle and the male bird stood guard on the fence. The first signs of spring are here!

The sun shining has us smiling! ☀️

Grade 1s have been learning about 3D solids with Christine McBryan. Soon we will be learning about structures, so as an inquiry prompt during free play, I put out the 3D solid manipulatives and challenged students to build the tallest structure they could!
