Our Champions can't believe it's going to take the GOV.UK 3 years to sort out social care, but our #SaveOurSupport campaign will keep putting the pressure on. Here's what our Champion Lucy said we had to do:

Thursday was such a special night celebrating a very unique achievement. Our founder and president, Michael Edwards was awarded an MBE for services to people with learning disabilities. We held a party to thank Michael and we were thrilled that so many people came.

Good to hear the Health and Social Care Committee discuss Community Health Services earlier this morning. However good community health services need to go hand in hand with the right homes if we want people to have the best lives possible.

Our Champions worst fears about this bill are being confirmed. We don't trust any government or professional to have the power of life or death over people with a learning disability.

Again we face a government, which has made us worried about the harm they will do, rather than the good we can achieve together. It's time for GOV.UK The Labour Party to reassure us, that their agenda will make our lives better not worse.

📢Homes, not hospitals! We’re protesting in Parliament Square today to demand justice. Autistic people and people with learning difficulties are still being locked away in psychiatric hospitals #BringPeopleHomeFromHospital

Imagine the Department of Health and Social Care calling the police on a wonderful, peaceful group of disabled people asking for their rights to be upheld (and the very least, not further diminished)! I took this picture at the protest yesterday… seems apt…

On the other hand - telling our stories in Parliament Square was a message for The Labour Party that disability voices are going nowhere. And if Baroness Merron and Stephen Kinnock refuse to hear us, we will just turn up the volume #speakout #nothingaboutwithoutus

✊🏽 Reclaiming walking... it's not agitation! In hospital, I was often chemically restrained for pacing. Walking, pacing, and movement aren’t uuallys signs of agitation or challenging behaviour... sometimes its the most effective form of self-care. #SensoryJustice

DPAC I can’t believe a The Labour Party government is torturing disabled people & carers like this. They turn up to charity events for PR & we have #CarersWeek & #MHAwarenessWeek & they make sympathetic noises but this is what they really think of us … #UselessEaters #DisabilityBenefits

Got this from Open Future Learning People like Elliot, this isn’t just a powerful quote - it’s their everyday reality. Support isn’t just about tasks or routines. It’s about recognising that their home are THEIR homes. Their comfort, their choices, their voice must always come first.
