It is an insult to the extent of our suffering and #trauma to suggest that recovery is easy. It's not. It's the hardest thing we'll ever do. It requires all our strength and all our courage. Listen to my podcast #7 'Can we heal?': carolynspring.com/podcasts/how-c… #TherapistsConnect

'More than 30,000 women who are pregnant or have newly given birth are on waiting lists for mental health support, according to NHS England data analysed by Labour, with the party saying many of them were being left to “suffer in silence”' Peter Walker theguardian.com/society/2023/s…

In my experience, recovery from complex #trauma isn't something that happens, and then it's done. It's something that we continually move towards. Listen to my podcast for a discussion of how difficult recovery is but how to pursue it: carolynspring.com/podcasts/what-… #TherapistsConnect

Great piece in Economist (paywall) How to stop over-medicalising mental health: "For all their good intentions, campaigns intended to raise awareness are leading some people to conflate normal responses to life’s difficulties with mental-health disorders." bit.ly/3R5T6sE

Untreated trauma can give rise to a brutal inner critic, and it may seem that survivors feel safest only when operating within bounds of joyless self-judgment and being alone. This article examines how we can heal trauma through self-compassion. buff.ly/3e73H4e

The effect of exercise is larger than medication for depression in this network meta-analysis (although there are fewer high quality studies in these areas because less funding). Intensity matters, won't be for everyone and SSRI as comparison is a low bar but still interesting
