I implore the Catholic Church (and all other institutions - religious or other) not to interfere with the assisted dying bill. This is a matter of personal conscience and not for anyone to direct others what to feel or how to think.

I’m grateful to the Guardian for publishing my perspective on assisted dying. I hope it will provide MPs and Peers with some emotional context and communicate the significance of the upcoming free vote.

Tackling absence is a generational challenge. If government, parents & schools work together, children thrive. We'll play our part rolling out breakfast clubs, stronger mental health & SEND provision and a broad curriculum for all. We need parents to be partners in this effort.
