As one of ~150 families who have lost their home in the Tantallon fire, a huge debt is owed to the firefighters and Mother Nature for getting the fire under control. The communication and support to families however has been horrible and requires review and accountability by HRM.

There have been lots of nice words in the last week about support for families most impacted in the fires. Here’s a thought, how about meeting directly with us to hear what we need, answer our questions, and provide regular updates with practical info we need hfxgov Nova Scotia Gov.

hfxALERT could be a great emergency management comms tool for HRM, if used. No alerts from hfxALERT during Tantallon wildfire. Received this one ~24 hrs after flooding event started. Were there no lessons learned from wildfire about earlier notification in life safety events?

Saying you will “do what you can” when you are the government that literally holds the authorities needed to address this issue gives little comfort to those of us who have lost homes and have been waiting 18 months for this to be solved. How about this instead? #makeithappen
