For 7 years, we've been warning that if you don't get SEND support right in schools you will see an increase in need at the other end. Many young people signing up for PIP now were starting secondary then. Don't abandon them twice. Disabled Children's Partnership

In collaboration with letuslearntoo
We are launching our petition to Keir Starmer to pledge to make a priority if elected, Labour have so far made NO commitments to fixing the and that simply isn't good enough

Well this is exciting. My book has been relaunched with a new cover and a new chapter. Here I look at healthcare and the importance of braving every autistic person's nightmare: booking a GP appointment 😱Orion Delwaterman Orion Delwatermanspring

“The blow to disabled people comes after the prime minister unveiled a plan to hand power to officials with no medical training to decide whether an employee is sick”

The government aren’t even trying to hide their ableism. theguardian.com/society/2024/a…

'Rishi Sunak is taking the power away from GPs and putting it with people in the DWP who will not be incentivised to put the patient at the heart of the decision they're making.'

Today the PM issued some cold and borderline inhuman rhetoric on benefit reforms.
Again he wants to make life harder for Disabled and vulnerable people after announcing a 'chilling' set of reforms to force people back to work.
This persecution has to end.

The government’s ongoing onslaught on disabled people is hard to watch with the PM taking aim at people who are long-term sick in a cruel speech demonizing people with ‘sick notes’. All at a time when people struggle to access mental health support.

Sunak's speech is another example of the hostile environment the Tories have waged against disabled people since 2010.

Further curbs to disability benefits & the PIP budget are cruel as disabled people suffer disproportionately from cost-of-living.

Reducing the benefits disabled people, rightly, receive does not suddenly make them able to work. It only ruins lives.

This total lack of care and subject targeting from the Tories for 14 years has lead to a huge increase in the attempted suicide rate of disabled people.

Stricter rules on benefit claimants won’t help autistic people, whose needs are already poorly understood. These proposed changes will do nothing except make an already stressful system even more inaccessible. gov.uk/government/new…

I suspect the real truth is that people are unable to work because they can’t access the health services they need to be fit for work. It’s a sick system not culture. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

How can we be ‘excluding’ any primary school age child? I’m seriously shocked. I don’t even know where to start with this 😢💔 what I do know that behaviour is a manifestation of something else going on. We need to be helping and supporting and not punishing… all that will be…

Pretty much every child excluded at primary school has SEND. Every so often a stat stops you in your tracks, and this is one of them.
