Enjoyed talking with Jeremy Kyle this morning about Storm Eunice - 70-80mph gusts now arriving across SW England/SW Wales - these winds moving across into C/S England later this morning into early afternoon - stay indoors unless it's essential. #Weather #Stormeustice

It's important to note that weather regimes have different weather/energy impacts throughout the course of the year. The pattern that's due to come in late this week into next week if occurred back in February would have brought widespread very cold air across Europe.

Latest forecasts uncertain with UK temps for Bank holiday Mon and the rest of next week too - if high pressure can nudge just a bit more eastwards we'll see 1-2degC above normals - but if the high stays to the west - temperatures will dip cooler instead! I know which one I prefer

Time for high pressure over mainland Europe! More uncertain for the UK though - could see Atlantic lows spoil the fun but with a stronger preference for Conti/Scandi high over westerly high - means greater risk of warm/dry/calm/sunny overall at least for the South-East! #Weather

Plenty of warm/sunny weather in the outlook for Europe this week/next week with high pressure pattern types dominating the forecast - more uncertain (as you would expect) into late May. #WeatherUpdate #Weather #WeatherForecast #renewables

"We've had heatwaves before - 1976" I've displayed hottest day of 1976 (thanks Dan Harris) against the current forecast for next Mon (thanks MetDesk) It's 5degC flipping hotter and Tues potentially hotter! Just 3 years after we've broken UK Max temps we should be alarmed

"We've had heatwaves before - 1976" Part 2 All talk of Max but Min temps as/more important re. heatstroke as the body can cope with another hot day if it's cool enough and thus recovers at night. 3rd July 76 Min (Dan Harris) ~ 12-19C Current forecast (MetDesk) 5-8C warmer🤯

Stuff the euromillions, I’ve won the real jackpot! A good 4-7 deg cooler than elsewhere in England localised entirely within my garden

Very warm night but some major local differences With no surface heating/no wind - cold air sinks Alton 15-17C ~100m asl whilst Four Marks 24-26C ~200m asl in the very hot airmass - it's called an inversion - and I'm sure places like Alton are very thankful for that this morning!

In this video I have shown a very quick experiment I did Uni of Reading Harris Garden. I hope it shows why the last thing drought stricken Southern England needs now is heavy rain. #Drought #flooding #ClimateEmergency thanks Reading Meteorology & Water @ Reading . youtube.com/watch?v=CyGmRa…
