This is scandalous.
At JCWI, we're sadly hearing similar stories on our helpline w/ UNISON - UK's largest union - care workers being made undocumented + destitute due to care providers' sponsorship licence being revoked, then unable to find sponsorship elsewhere.
We need change now.
🧵 Yes! Health for all is the right and sensible thing to do. More countries should follow this example ❤️

Last night, the Lords called out the government's ban on migrant care worker family members as ‘terrible’.
“We are asking care workers to care for our loved ones, but we are denying them the right to do the same in respect of their own children and partners.” - Lord Jonny Oates
Great to see Peers vote in favour of this vital amendment, which would help migrant survivors safely report abuse to the police.
Congratulations to the excellent Latin American Women's Rights Service - LAWRS for their work leading the campaign 👏
It’s vital that the #VictimsBill introduces a firewall between statutory services and immigration enforcement so abusers can no longer use insecure immigration status as a means of control.
This is a great step forward, and we stand with Latin American Women's Rights Service - LAWRS calling MPs to follow suit.
All Londoners should be able to enjoy decent pay & fair conditions. But for far too many workers this isn't the case.

A huge step forwards in the lords today thanks to Latin American Women's Rights Service - LAWRS firewall campaign.
For too long migrant survivors have been locked out of justice.
It’s time to stop police & other services sharing their data with immigration enforcement & put safety before status once and for all.
This is hugely welcome - crucial that this is supported in the Commons. A long campaign by Latin American Women's Rights Service - LAWRS which shouldn’t have had to be so hard fought #victimfirst #VictimsAndPrisonersBill
‼️ Lords vote to protect migrant victims from immigration enforcement
Risk of detention and removal from the UK stops migrant victims seeking safety, trapping them in abuse
MPs must do the right thing & accept this amendment to the #VictimsBill

Great news, a firewall amendment was successfully introduced to the #VictimsandPrisonersBill in the House of Lords.
