#Japan Hunting & Harpooning #FinWhales while they've had #PaulWatson arrested so he couldn't sail out to intercept them 🤬These Great Whales are protected in 88 Countries. A harpooned whale can take up to 2 HOURS to die. Tell me which image do you prefer?? #FreePaulWatson

Light at night affects not only insect behaviour, but bats, moths & other nocturnal beings. it’s bad for us too. We need a ‘switch off’ policy for not needed nocturnal light Leaving streetlights on all night makes leaves tougher & harder for insects to eat news.sky.com/story/leaving-…

According to @EmberClimate's report, Drax was the UK’s largest carbon emitter in 2023, with 11.5 million tonnes of CO2 — despite receiving over £500 million in subsidies for biomass energy. The report highlights concerns about burning wood pellets. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

I must call out the flood of fossil fuel expansion we are seeing in some of the world’s wealthiest countries. In signing such a surge of new oil and gas licenses, they are signing away our future. Countries must phase-out fossil fuels – fast and fairly.

"We need an exit ramp off the highway to climate hell. We have control of the wheel. The 1.5 degree limit of global warming is still possible. But we need to fight harder. Now." António Guterres No time to wait. #ActOnClimate

Natural fly control from our summer visitors. We’ve had more swallow nests in the buildings than I have ever seen at Strickley, 9 nests, all had 2 broods fledge with some managing a third. There’s no shortage of food for them on an organic dairy farm. I love seeing them fly 💚

The overshoot myth: you can’t keep burning fossil fuels and expect scientists of the future to get us back to 1.5°C (theconversation.com)

It's unsettling to hear Keir Starmer's deregulation plans today. Done wrong, this will mean fewer protections for nature when it urgently needs more. We support growth, we support the energy transition, but not at the expense of the natural world.

It seems to me that it will be necessary to see the growth of Nature as a prerequisite for economic growth (which needs to embrace measures of natural capital as well as GDP). This is potentially a very exciting new area of policy development in which the UK could lead the world.
