Of the 27 children who started reception last September, 8 were in nappies. The primary school is also having to teach some children Makaton, a basic form of sign language as some pupils can't say basic sentences such as "Can I go to the toilet?"

The racism and violence in these riots is so frightening and should be condemned. I rarely use this platform anymore, and the content I see on it now makes me want to never come back. So I’m amplifying hopeful alternatives, and sending solidarity to anyone feeling scared today.

At our recent Solidarity Day, young people from Manchester, of all races and backgrounds, came together to think and learn. In one session, they pulled together the headlines they hope to see, that reflect the realities they want to organise around. It feels relevant today.
