Hilarious - Trusts got paid a fortune for this service, and now GPs are expected to add it to the bucket for precisely 0% of funding for doing the same high-risk work, for more patients.

Hard no.

We know this, we know GPs reduce admissions, attendance at A&E and complications of long term disease. If GPs were a drug, NICE would be falling over themselves to recommend

Remember this has all the hallmarks of a deliberate policy of malicious destruction. As Prof Sir Michael Marmot observes all the data fit with that hypothesis.

Junior doctors start their careers on £29,384.

There is not a single Conservative MP who would be prepared to do their jobs for that salary.

If we’re not careful there won’t be a single junior doctor who is prepared to do so either.

It’s so important that as GPs we don’t get pushed into only dealing with presenting complaints and prioritise urgent access and policy makers remember the breadth of skill and expertise we bring to each whole person consultation

UK Comparisons on Public Spending
Incapacity/Social Care/Unemployment/Pensions

The UK spends less than comparable nations on all these areas

It’s ‘surprising’ the Tory Govt are obsessed with reducing them further - it’s no wonder the nation is sick with health issues rising

If GPs have to refer direct to endoscopy & colonoscopy.
And have to do all the investigations and management in order to refer…
And accept responsibility
And do onward referrals….

What do Gastroenterologists actually do?

Can we have the money instead?

NHS England have again cut funding for GP Practices in 2024/25
A 2% increase in funding representing another 2% cut, after years of real terms cuts
Funding has risen from £153/patient/year in 2016 to £165, equivalent to a 20% cut £35
Enough for 2 extra GPs for an average practice

Government have failed their election pledges
2015 - 5000 more GPs
2019 - 6000 more GPs

Is it any wonder when they & NHSE have reduced GP Practice funding by 20% £/patient since 2016, only funded additional roles at expense of GPs

GPs leaving, practices closing, GPs unemployed

yet it's ok for drs to: conceal large financial conflicts of interest, offer utterly non evidence based £££ whole body screening nonsense, prescribe garbage for autism, spread myths about vaccination harm, or inject people with expensive evidence-free vitamin infusions for lucre

Here is Rishi Sunak setting back the campaign for mental health parity at least a decade.

This is un-evidenced, performative cruelty.

It's disgusting.

Absolutely. The increasing complexity of these ‘GP to kindly’ tasks mean:

1) We work ourselves to burnout in between clinics and after hours to complete them, or

2) We book them into appointment slots and therefore pts who are trying to get a GP appointment can’t get them, or

Rishi Sunak doesn’t understand why more people are on the long term sick
Govt has increased waiting times year on year
1/9 are waiting for hospital treatment it’s surprising that so few are long term sick
If Govt invested in health the economy would £156bn better off

I joined doctors & patients protesting outside GMC as Dr Sarah Benn awaits to hear if she will be struck off for peaceful climate action.

Striking whistleblowing doctors off rides roughshod over the GMC’s own legal and ethical responsibility to protect patient safety.

Partha S Kar 🇮🇳🇬🇧🏏🎥 There appears to be no official NHSE record of the crisis in GP, the loss of GPs, unemployment of many
It has the feel of Post Office Board oblivious to the problems only ever given ‘good news’ - More appts, More ARRS staff
20% cut £/patient real terms
99.2% rejected the contract

Seeing the same GP could help people live longer

Living in areas of England with more fully qualified GPs and better-funded surgeries also had a positive impact on life expectancy

2300 patients per GP up 500 since 2016

GP Funding cut 20% £/patient 🤷🏻‍♂️ independent.co.uk/news/uk/academ…
