Maylén joined us for clubs to talk about her experience in Mauritania w/ Peace Corps. She worked to promote girls' education through activities such as poetry & math competitions, basketball camps, & tutoring. Both French & Arabic are official languages in much of western Africa.
So true! As we read Elie Wiesel's "Night" & consider the question of how our stories affect our identity, Jennifer Wahl helped us to better understand Elie's identity as a Jew wishing to study Kabbalah. Our area lacks religious diversity & we so appreciated Jen's perspective.

Thanks to @SkypeClassroom we traveled to the National National WWII Museum in New Orleans without leaving Room 202! After reading "Night" & learning about Martin Niemöller's Stuttgart Declaration of Guilt, we continued to explore the concept of personal & collective responsibility.
