Best advice? “Try not to get overwhelmed. Be ready to step out of your comfort zone. Expect change, adjust to it, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.” It was great to hear from some former WASD students!

So true! As we read Elie Wiesel's "Night" & consider the question of how our stories affect our identity, Jennifer Wahl helped us to better understand Elie's identity as a Jew wishing to study Kabbalah. Our area lacks religious diversity & we so appreciated Jen's perspective.

“This is the rural life that I know exists all over the country: It can be stimulating and rewarding, a place for bold creativity. I am more involved in politics, and more outspoken about social and racial justice, economic development and feminism.” Yes! nytimes.com/2019/03/08/opi…

We finished reading John Steinbeck's "Of Mice and Men" in 10th grade English class today. My favorite review was "I hate reading, but this book was amazing." That's just the kind of thing that keeps this first-year English teacher going.

Thanks to @SkypeClassroom we traveled to the National National WWII Museum in New Orleans without leaving Room 202! After reading "Night" & learning about Martin Niemöller's Stuttgart Declaration of Guilt, we continued to explore the concept of personal & collective responsibility.

Students impressed me with their engagement & questions. Afterwards Ms. Fitzgerald, the museum's distance learning specialist, gave us a quick tour of the museum. She even stayed connected after the bell to answer a few student questions. I can't recommend @SkypeClassroom enough!

Proud of Wade Owlett for sharing the voices of Tioga Co. students with @RELNNH Plymouth State University! Our students understand the advantages of their rural education despite mainstream ideas about rural America. They will help us change the narrative and inspire hope in our small towns.
