The removal of work experience had a huge detrimental impact on young people. It was the way in for something on CVs that got them their first job. Invaluable, I had mine at a charity shop, helped me get my first weekend retail job at Primark at 16.

🧵🚨 Joint education unions have written to @BPhillipsonMP expressing deep concern over United Learning Trust’s proposal to encourage teachers to opt out of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme.

The framing of "Do teachers want more pension or more pay?" is completely backwards. Teachers want to be rewarded fairly for the difficult job they do. They want fair pay, and they want to defer some of their earnings so they can live a dignified retirement (a fair pension).
