I just finished Starfish by Author Lisa Fipps and I am finding myself in awe - of her words, of her story and of how necessary this book is - for ALL of us. I am still crying over some of the last words in the book... the little girl inside of me needed this book 30 years ago.

Unfortunately, I must resort to using this social platform to voice my disgust for BCBSIL. We have PPO. This “top tier” healthcare coverage is supposed to give my family the best options for doctors. We, in fact, do have quality optionality. The coverage & reimbursement - NO!

So where are we? Stuck in this cycle for the unteenth time and having spent 30+ hours on the phone with various BCBSIL advocates who make empty promises about fixing the issues. We’re still here w/ the same problems, months on end...

We filed a claim with BCBSIL , & the rep has input the claim incorrectly w/ the wrong date of service. They used 11/10 when it’s supposed to be 12/10. AND they sent the reimbursement to the provider instead of the patient who submitted the claim.

To make matters worse, BCBSIL is now refusing to adjust the claim until they receive the original payment back from the provider. However, that’s not possible bc the check includes reimbursements for other patients as well.

Now we can’t even send the BCBSIL check back that they sent the provider bc it has other patient funds on it. This is egregious on BCBSIL's part.

Because this is a recurring issue, we have had previous contact w/ a customer advocate specialist. Now we have been told that we “aren’t allowed” to speak to that customer advocate specialist who understands this long-standing problem and rectified issues in the past.

This is an absolute mess & truly unacceptable. Maybe new IL BCBSIL President Brian Snell should worry more customer needs over a long-term growth strategy. His bio says that he has “ensured that BCBSIL has delivered customer-first operational excellence. No he hasn’t!
