“Monsanto, a major glyphosate exporter, has been shown to have influenced academic research to downplay the health risks of its valuable product.” Shocking. 🥱 Mexico’s planned glyphosate ban helped show how agroecology can lead the way forward theconversation.com/mexicos-planne…

Sea ice is breaking away from the northern tip of Greenland, to be carried by ocean currents into the Fram Strait east of Greenland. On their way they will melt away, illustrating how even the thickest sea ice can disappear in a matter of days. arctic-news.blogspot.com/2024/07/thicke…

Here and there, you'll still find traces of Ireland's rich rainforest past, as on this rocky flank by Puleen, Beara. These places are priceless biological treasure houses, yet are still treated as if they had zero worth. Our priorities are all wrong. 🌎

Another green fuels project is scrapped. This strengthens the argument that the only reliable way to decarbonise aviation is to fly less. Whenever governments and industry promise green innovation, there's no guarantee it will actually happen. ft.com/content/abdd1c…

80% of greenhouse gas emissions can be linked to just 57 companies: buff.ly/3J38lPx We know who's responsible for this crisis. Time to phase out fossil fuels and #ActOnClimate #climate #energy #renewables

At best, global #nuclear power adds only as much electricity in a year as #renewables add every few days. #China now installing new wind and solar equivalent of five new nuclear reactors every week. abc.net.au/news/science/2…

The rise of renewables – like solar, wind & hydro – means they’re set to overtake coal in global electricity generation for the 1st time in 2025 This may result in a small drop in CO2 emissions from the power sector in 2025, after a slight rise in 2024 👉 iea.li/4dCvYvm

Good morning with good news: 98% of utility-scale US generation added in Jan-Jun 2024 were solar, wind, battery & nuclear, and they will be ~97% for all of 2024! Those percentages near 99% with small solar included. Fossil fuel retirements were 3X greater than their additions

What's the single most important energy trend for climate? China's coal-fired electricity output has to be in the top five most important, if not the most important. It is down 3 months in a row, the first sustained decline not due to COVID closures. Credit Nicolas Fulghum.

Trash pickup day 1,854. This was a 90 minute pickup. #EarthCleanUp Revisited a section of the park I've been intentionally neglecting in recent weeks because A.) We keep getting earthquakes and it's steep, and B.) I am tired of cleaning the same damm spot 400 times.
