In Scotland, BrewDog aimed to create a 'Lost Forest' on land they bought by planting 100,000s of trees, despite lots of natural regeneration.
Why? Because they got Β£690k in grants. The result? Most of the planted trees died.
It's a racket, pure + simple

Eoghan Daltun π It's possible for people to make a very good living doing this, but unfortunately corporations & the government hate such 'messy' forests, and it doesn't generate huge quarterly profits. Basically, the problem is that they don't want to make a living, they want to make a killing.
Eoghan Daltun π I've seen it done right here in the Pacific Northwest - basically it means just taking a few trees at a time from any given acre with very long growth cycles, while allowing a natural mix of species to thrive, and leaving a few trees here and there to mature into old growth.

Eoghan Daltun π Yes. And no. The biggest lack of math or reality skills ever, I have encountered in organic livestock farmers.
They refused to accept that we cannot use more land than we have if we want to be sustainable.

For all Lizzy fans of the anniversary of Black Rose, this is actual original artwork which I have refused to sell for huge money.
I'm skint always but I want this to stay in Dublin.
Free to any state gallery/museum in the city.
But it must be displayed free for kids. #ThinLizzy
Eoghan Daltun π Is it a form of human centred narcissism? That animals only exist in the relationship to us?
