Sad state of affairs in emergency medicine these days. This is happening in EDs around the province everyday. - higher volumes - sicker patients - more violence against HCWs And no end in sight.

When we asked our team last year, 73% of ED staff had experienced a physical assault at work and 100% verbal assault. While we continue to work to provide safer environments - the amt of violence keeps ⬆️ Please join us in this important event. Anton Nikouline Unity Health Toronto

Appreciate everyone who came out and supported this cause! This is just a start but happy some people along the run asked about it. Feeing safe in your work place should be the norm, not the other way around.#healthcareworkerssafetyawareness #HWSA

Reflections from the ED: is there anything more impressive than an emerg nurse? Literally provide ICU level care, juggle multiple patients, all while being verbally (and often physically) harrassed...make sure to thank them and not take them for granted. They're hard to find...

There's a cost to not helping a child w/ asthma manage their condition or not ensuring a diabetic person can access medications -- a human cost + a cost to our health system b/c of worsened conditions. Universal access to health services must be PERMANENT. Period. #Healthcare4all

The Ontario gov't did the right thing when it removed long-standing barriers to accessing medical services for people without health insurance. Now it needs to make those changes PERMANENT. It's the right thing to do, for people and for our health system. #healthcare4all #ONpoli

Never forget that the goal of privatized healthcare is to provide profits for shareholders. Meanwhile, the goal of public healthcare is to provide healthcare for people. Which one do you think is best suited to improve the health of Canadians?

Last night an elderly patient fell at home at 20:00. EMS called but none available to be dispatched until 1AM. Laying on the ground, with a broken femur, for 5hrs. Imagine that was your family member and that's the state we're at Ontario Health Doug Ford

This Christmas please don’t say we can’t afford housing for all. We can no longer afford the cruelty of the status quo. A month in provincial jail costs: $9,400 Month in hospital: $20,100 Month in shelter: $6,600 Social housing per month: $2,500 Housing is a human right.

Hospital funding is being cut. Hospitals will not be paid for the care of those who have expired OHIP cards. For many hospitals this is essentially a dbl-digit loss in funding to provide care. Expired OHIP cards are the great majority for inner city ED.
