Outrage that Christmas was tarnished by the ugliness of the #FirstWorldWar was felt by both British and German soldiers. ⌛ 𝗟𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 buff.ly/3VN2zIx

English and Latin have a hidden connection that no one notices. If a word begins with ‘f’ in English, it begins with ‘p’ in Latin. Take the word “father.” The Latin for father is “pater” — with a ‘p.’ And that’s just the beginning. It’s crazy, but here’s how it works… 🧵

A curriculum first for me as rewilding is explicitly introduced into our KS3 curriculum🌱 There are SO many excellent examples to choose from but I've gone with the reintroduction of lynx in the UK because of the richness of the geography in this clip: bbc.co.uk/teach/class-cl…

"Middle-school students who gave motivational advice to younger students spent more time on homework over the following month than students who received motivational advice from expert teachers," though people expected the opposite to be the case: bit.ly/42jucwK ($)

Using sentence stems is a good retrieval practice activity for word learning and sentence level learning. Here are some sentence stems that focus on previously learned vocabulary with a focus on "change of direction" and "emphasis" words like whereas and particularly.

Did you know? Trump’s ex-wife Ivana wasn’t an American citizen until 1988. She gave birth to Don Junior in 1977, Ivanka in 1981, and Eric in 1984. — Let’s cancel their birthright citizenship first.

This is one of the most profound videos I've seen recently. In a world where we find ourselves in short supply of people willing to stand in front of Trump and tell him things they know will piss him off, the bishop is a rock star. Towards the end, Trump's facial expressions

I’m changing up Regenerating Places so our local/contrasting place fit with our urban/rural case studies. The plan is to use Battersea Power Station and the Nine Elms area and St Austell. Some super interesting issues to discuss for both. First up, St Austell. 1/

Our next round of ‘All Four One’ homework’s are ready to go for Y7-9. Short bursts of meaningful tasks from defining key terminology to further practice of source skills. Set as a whole sheet, divided into two sets of tasks or chunked into four mini homeworks. #historyteacher

Marking This is the biggest waste of time in education. It takes *hours*. There is no evidence that taking up science or history exercise books every couple of weeks, ticking and flicking, writing a couple of things in the margin and two or three points at the end does anything

Tom Bennett OBE (@tombennett71) 's Twitter Profile Photo

You could do away with most forms of book marking and see no difference in outcomes. As long as students know you care the work is done, and done to the best of their ability, formative feedback is often best given to the whole class etc.

Studying history will sometimes DISTURB you. Studying history will sometimes UPSET you. Studying history will sometimes make you FURIOUS. If studying history always makes you feel proud and happy, you probably aren't studying history. #Blackhistorymonth
