Still working on the principle of ‘one point of reference’ for content. These Elizabeth I GCSE examples give students a single point of call for revision whilst chunking crucial knowledge. The ‘Mapping of Elizabethan England’ by Dan Warner-Meanwell is the epitome of this.

It’s hard to do but sometimes all you need is a visualiser, your own knowledge and a good story to tell for the hour. I love our introduction lesson on the Tudor dynasty and its development with Y10. Foundational understanding ticked off for the rest of the course

Still in the prototype stage but I’m going to run with the ‘EXTRACTion’ reading format with Y10 next week. Offers a range of different reading aspects. E.g. scan for characters/summarise key events. Hopefully ensures students fully pick apart the whole extract.

Whole class feedback slide ready for students to note/add to their exam skills booklet. Trialing breaking down feedback into ‘Crucial, Important and Ideal’. Once noted, students will then be guided through a good ‘live’ example response with emphasis on structure.

Chipping away at our ‘Extension Extract’ homework’s to further knowledge and world build at GCSE. Students will read through Gaddis’ ‘The Cold War’ and get to grips with Stalin’s character and motivation for Soviet expansionism.
