I remember seeing Sidney Poitier at opening night of “Thurgood” at the Geffen Playhouse with Laurence Fishburne. During the curtain call, Fishburne bowed subtly to Poitier in the front row. Poitier had also played the SC justice, in “Separate but Equal,” a TV miniseries.

I’ll take it very personally if we don’t have baseball season on time. MLB, how dare you deprive baseball fans dealing with the pandemic, threats to democracy and in my case, chemotherapy, of baseball? Players don’t get a total pass, but owners = lock out, weak-ass bargaining.

Russell Martin is one of my favorite Dodger catchers, both times he was on the team. Hope your retirement is happy, Russell.

The Rachel Kushner story in the 7/11 The New Yorker is superb. ‘A King Alone’is possibly the best story I’ve read there since they excerpted ‘Mars Room.’

So many dog photos spoiled by people thinking dogs are cuter wearing clothes or get-ups that give them human arms and legs. They are beautiful and adorable enough already!

I can't stop thinking about "Horse," the novel by Geraldine Brooks. You don't have to be a horse person to love it. You #Horse I #GeraldineBrooks

After seeing the first segment of ‘The US and the Holocaust,’ I think it is the most important Ken Burns doc I’ve seen in years, amplified by recent events in … this country.

This Ken Burns documentary "The U.S. and the Holocaust" is so chilling in the way we see all the echoes today and seem to be making such similar mistakes.
