I am utterly disappointed by the Morrison government’s response to Afghanistan’s refugees. Do not be fooled. This isn’t a compassionate response, it’s just more mean and tricky spin to disguise this government's inaction. #auspol #ActionForAfghanistan theage.com.au/politics/feder…

Pretty telling with cost of living in the spotlight. Puts some perspective on the ACOSS call for govt to #RaiseTheRate of income support to … at least $70 a day. Not a lot, right? Not much room for leeks. Let’s get this done so pple can #CoverTheBasics

Spot the difference: 👉🏽People on JobSeeker get an increase of $2 a day 👉🏽The rich get an extra $24 a day via stage 3 tax cuts Bonus points if you can figure out why Labor are prioritising billionaires over lifting people above the poverty line & funding essential public services

Thanks to ACOSS & everyone who has been advocating for so long for an increase to JobSeeker & other payments. 🇦🇺 is 3rd worst in the OECD & have so many people doing it tough. This will set up a more transparent process for how govt decides to support people in our communities.

Inequality has been on steroids in Australia over the last decade, fuelling the cost-of-living crisis. Our report shows the bottom 90% of Australians receive just 7% of economic growth per person since '09, while the top 10% of income earners reap 93% of the benefits. 🤯 #auspol

The radio silence on Stage 3 in the Budget papers is telling. The increase in JobSeeker is about $1,000 a year. The increase for people earning ~$200,000 from the Stage 3 tax cuts is $9,000 a year. #auspol #Budget2023

Both Conservatives and Labour put high priority on economic growth. I would rather see growth and reduction in inequalities in the height of five-year-old children. That way we will know that we have an economy that is really delivering for the health and wellbeing of all.
