Range Forest Officer Ashok Singh in 1975 was in Mirzapur, working on bamboo plantations. One day, labourers reported to him, they'd seen a cat with two kittens eating a hare. Upon reaching there, he found the mother had run off, but they captured the kittens. They were caracals.
