Teachers, take time to check in with your quiet students. Administrators, take time to check in with your quiet teachers too! Sometimes we forget them in the hectic pace of the day.

Students shouldn't be the only reason a teacher stays, but admin should be a reason too! Support, encouragement, praise, and appreciation help create a culture where your staff can thrive.

Absolutely! Don’t be the barrier that keeps your leaders from leading… As a principal, I never wanted my teachers to feel micromanaged. Superintendents also need to be cognizant of what their next tier down is doing… Being fully aware of your organizations impact is critical!

Last night I completed my doctoral journey by successfully defending my dissertation. It’s been almost 20 years since my last degree. In those 20 years I was able to coach my daughters, and many other young ladies, without missing a moment of those special years with my family.

Effective leaders don't feel the need to micromanage because they know their staff are the experts. They know their role is to sometimes mentor, always support and encourage, but never micromanage. Effective leadership is about getting the best out of those you lead!

Two questions for school leadership to always be considering: 1. What does the staff need? 2. What does the staff need taken off their plate?

β€œDo not take criticism from someone you wouldn’t take advice.” Great advice that was given to me by Joe Sanfelippo and I hope that it can help someone else.

We…Us…Our over Me…You…Them. People won’t change the way they talk about schools until we change the way that we talk about schools. Something I think about with every conversation. #LeadFromWhereYouAre

Absolutely! It’s such a simple way to strengthen the student:teacher relationship and thus student achievement. Those who think they don’t have time with all they have to teach are neglecting a strategy that can actually give you back time.

Maslow before Bloom isn’t just for studentsβ€”it’s for everyone in a school. Teachers teach best when they feel supported. Administrators lead best when they feel secure. Staff perform best when they are valued. Just as students need safety, rest, and belonging to learn, so do the
