This is the fuel mix in ERCOT (Texas) for the past week (top) vs same week 4 years ago (bottom). Solar generation is in yellow. Solar barely registered in 2021; today it accounts for roughly 50% of generation during the day in the shoulder months. data via Grid Status

Spain blackout is a wake-up call. Grid resilience & flexibility are essential for reliable energy. Bloomberg quotes my post: batteries now provide >50% of supplies Texas’s grid uses for stability via ancillary services. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

We really need to stop grouping together "wind and solar." They're completely different resources with completely different characteristics. Everywhere in the U.S. (and most of the planet) has great solar resources. The spatial distribution of wind power on Earth is extremely

Rooftop solar and a battery without utility interconnection or permits makes it way faster and cheaper to build. This is now legal in Utah thanks to governor Spencer Cox, who wants to double energy output in his state and sees this as a key part of the plan. Badass!

Solar PV is still growing fast in Denmark, reaching nearly one third of electricity generation this month. And that is not even counting self-consumption from behind-the-meter installations.
