I started out with a Roland XP-60,Cool Edit Pro,and was using Soundfonts mixed with Roland sounds.....learned Midi out of necessity 💯...I was sampling back then too but was very limited...some of my favorite work was made off of that setup and this was in the late 90's/early 2k.
