My favorite part of being a grad student is getting to mentor and learn from the undergraduate students. I had such amazing grad school mentors (e.g., Emily Sarah Sumner, PhD) and am happy to continue to share my knowledge and resources with others!

Grad students: How much money does your department allocate for conference travel for you? Trying to get a good sense of this info. to bring back to the faculty in my department. For comparison, I am in a psych department in the Midwest (NE) and we get $175/academic year.

Calling all psych faculty on #academictwitter Do you have undergraduates or post-baccs in your lab who are considering applying to PhD programs in psychology? What about graduate students and post-docs interested in mentoring? Please consider sharing information about NPSP!

I didn't grab a photo but I presented my dissertation proposal to my supervisory committee today and we had an engaging discussion on how to move forward with my dissertation work exploring the role of parent math anxiety for parent-child math interactions!

In my first year, I decided to start up a coding project with two undergraduate research assistants on coding parenting behaviors during a parent-child interaction. Four years later (and through a pandemic), I can proudly say that we have coded 135 parent-child interactions!

My dissertation looks at the relationship between some cognitive predictors and strategy flexibility in algebra. I would love to present it as part of a symposium on strategy selection/algebra/EF-Math at #CDS2024 I am wondering if anyone would be interested.

I often forget to give myself the space to admit that doing a PhD is hard! It takes a lot of persistence, motivation, and dedication, among so many other things! But with that, it is so rewarding and I am so amazed at how far I have come!

I somehow got two of the most important things of my life done today: 1) submitting my dissertation paper to my committee & 2) mailing out my wedding invitations.
