Part 2 came out on rehab and prevention. Only 3/23 were considered Grade A, but decent agreement otherwise. I have my opinions of course 😀 I mean, how many decades before experience helps determine consensus? pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40501314/

I just dont get the "professionalization" of youth sports. Two bats and a sliding mitt for 9U baseball? Good grief. Funny, we used to do just fine with the foam trucker hat, shared helmets and bats, and a pack of Topps after the game. 😉

One of the underrated stressors of parenting is not knowing what they dont know as they age. For example, do they know not to put foil the microwave? Do they know not to use the diesel pump for gas? The struggle is real to hopefully avoid raising a brood of idiots 🤣

Oh boy. This was interesting. Some of the physiological stuff was over my head, but very interesting findings in regards to muscle force, pain, and muscle damage cold vs. hot. One issue though is time of exposure in each. Maybe a factor? Open access. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40437768/

Checked this one out today too from AJSM. Especially in athletes, microfx a disaster. So great to have advances in OATS and MACI. Microfx OK to buy time or for inactive, but hopefully will go in dustbin along w/ lateral release and thermal capsulorraphy haha.

Some studies make you squirm and this is one. New paper from A/Prof Stephanie Filbay and colleagues. Definitely challenges a long-standing dogma and accepted truth. Still say the numbers are our fault - we're not good at preparing athletes in the rehab, but wow! springermedizin.de/no-difference-…

"The pilots landed under heavy fire to save the dog? That is America." Sensational interview Robert J. O'Neill on Tucker. Perfect 4th of July listen while rucking today. Thanks for your service 🇺🇸

PSA! If youre listening to Lee Greenwood today, having a couple of cold ones with family and friends, and firing up some Chicago dogs, just remember the oft forgotten ingredient...drum roll...celery salt. You're welcome. 'Murica. 😀🇺🇸 I know Pope Leo XIV will confirm.

It's recommended that we load at ≥70% of 1 Rep Max during rehab but what does this translate to in terms of reps to fatigue? Nuzzo et al. (2024) suggests 70% of 1RM is ~15RM which is a good place to start with loading & can be progressed towards 6RM (& heavier) as symptoms allow

Chatted with D1 Head AT today... "What ACL grafts you seeing?" "Mostly BPTB now. Had a run of quads for a bit but went back because they just struggle. Extensor weakness just tough to overcome." Hmm. Somebody's been saying this. Oh yeah thats right, me haha. Ahem Lenny Macrina, Sports Physical Therapist

Had an extremely edifying couple of days! Was invited by Duke to be their keynote address speaker for their resident/fellow graduation. Great to see so many colleagues, past & present and to meet some bright, energetic PTs. Capped off visit with a talk for the Sports Med team.

Played "Life" w/ my son. I chose the college route. He went career. I was a lawyer, bought a house, invested, did the right things. He bought a yacht, fancy car, invested some, bought a beach hut for a house, and was a blogger...he retired with 400K more than me. Super. 😆

Man. Brutal week for us kids of the 80s. First Theo Huxtable. Then Ozzy. Now Hulk Hogan. What the heck? I know death travels in 3's but dang...
