I can name 29 people sleeping in tents or on benches right now on the peninsula alone. How many people are sleeping rough that I don't know? When will @NS_DCS Housing Nova Scotia admit there is a homelessness crisis and start to act to house these people? We need affordable housing now!

Your reminder that while you are debating turning on the heat in the mornings and getting out the sweaters there are 50+ people sleeping outside because they do not have housing right here in Halifax. Stephen McNeil Mike Savage @NS_DCS #housingisahumanright #homelessness #hfx
The federal money announced for #Halifax this week of $8.7 million may not even replace the affordable homes being lost, let alone help to address folks already living in Core Housing Need. #housing #right2housing #affordablehousing Stephen McNeil Mike Savage AffordableHousing NS
Let these numbers sink in. Almost 500 people in HRM are now experiencing #homelessness, 375 for 6 MONTHS or longer. They include 93 women, 62 families (most single mother led), and an overrepresentation of Indigenous persons and of African descent. Stephen McNeil #nspoli #housing
"We need to do something about the private housing market as the root cause of the housing crisis. It is no coincidence that rental companies like CAPREIT reported continued growth the same year that homelessness doubled." via Solidarity Kjipuktuk / Halifax #nspoli springmag.ca/understanding-…
