Feeling inspired and hopeful for change after today’s session at Snaresbrook Crown Court with survivors and judges. Thank you to the survivors for sharing their experiences, challenge, questions and ideas and Victims’ Commissioner London for inviting me along.

How police treat victims of rape and sexual offences has life-changing consequences for victims. The ownership of transformation is in the hands of the police force. #DigestedRead of a piece by @BetsyTwicks and Professor Katrin Hohl OBE politicalquarterly.org.uk/blog/in-the-ey…

NEW: Operation Soteria shows progress in transforming how the police investigate rape, but there's still a long way to go. Now is a pivotal time for this work - it must be turbocharged & met with the resources it needs if we are to see justice for victims endviolenceagainstwomen.org.uk/soteria-shows-…

Delighted to be working with Victims & VAWG Minister Alex Davies-Jones MP on her mission to make the justice system part of the solution for halving VAWG. Too many rape victims experience the justice system as part of the problem - this must and can change.

Delighted to have been part of the Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre first annual conference and to hear about the centre’s research and engagement with practice

The scale of police perpetrated domestic abuse is sobering - and current police misconduct and oversight procedures are toothless. What will it take to change this? Important new Centre for Women's Justice report out today 👇

🎬 Recording of my 20 minute public lecture on how police might restore rape and sexual assault survivors trust- and why we should embrace lower levels of public trust in the police as opportunity for policing and society 💥 youtu.be/KNyagklN49Y?fe… City St George's, University of London Press Lord Mayor of London, Alastair King

How to halve VAWG? Use data but don’t fixate on KPIs, back models that work like Op Soteria, invest in prevention and intervention, fix protective orders, fund victim support. Some of my thoughts in this The Guardian Alexandra Topping article 👇 theguardian.com/society/2024/o…?

Today I was awarded the Freedom of the City City of London by Michael Mainelli - a huge honour even if the rights associated with it no longer fully apply (sorry, sheep! No more unlimited trips across London Bridge)

Our City Uni Sociology & Criminology 2024 Op Soteria survivor survey report is out today, headline The Guardian exclusive by Alexandra Topping

Encouraging to see the “green shoots” of Operation Soteria improving response to rape survivors, but with only 1 in 10 saying they would report again, more improvements are needed. I will continue to work with Metropolitan Police to ensure they use these insights to build on progress

The #Soteria survey shows that survivors overwhelmingly prioritise prevention of future harm, with 88% deeming it extremely important. After years of failings, the new government must build on Soteria's green shoots of progress if we are to see justice. endviolenceagainstwomen.org.uk/only-1-in-10-r…

We fully agree with Professor Katrin Hohl OBE in today's The Guardian article that 'There are green shoots but there is clearly a long way to go'. We have to work together to end violence against women and girls. theguardian.com/society/2024/n…
